The Ruger American is a polymer frames, pre-tensioned striker fired semi automatic. The trigger has a short takeup and positive reset. This pistol features a 4.5" barrel and a black nitride treated stainless steel slide. The barrel cam, low mass slide, low center of gravity and low bore access all contribute to reduced recoil. This model has a manual safety.
